Videovisninger i Strandgaten
Velkommen til video event i Strandgaten 210 og i nabolaget! Starter kl 17.00 og vises hele natten.  Bjørg Taranger har, i tillegg til egne visning, invitert med flere gjester som filmregissør Anne Magnussen og video/mediakunstnerne Enara Barnés Larrukert og Jennifer D´Amore. Mellom kl 18.00 og 19.00 vil alle kunstnerne være tilstede på Lampemannen bar. Kom gjerne innom for en prat eller spørsmål om kunstverkene.

DET HVITE TOGET – Bjørg Taranger, Kunstgarasjen i Bergen 11.01- 03.02 2019

Allerede på vei til Kunstgarasjen vil publikum få et møte med kunsten gjennom store vindusprojeksjoner. Videoinstallasjonen på vinduene vil fremtrede gradvis etterhvert som mørket faller på og vises hele natten. Her tar Taranger utgangspunkt i stedets karakter og omgivelser. Kunstgarasjens store vindusflater mot byen, omgivelsene med søppelstasjon, gravplass, landingsplattform for helikopter, sykehus, tog/bybanestasjoner m.m. reflekteres i utstillingens visuelle karakter.

I tillegg til stedets karakter er det Susan Sontags bok Å betrakte andres lidelse som danner bakgrunn for prosjektet, som videre førte Taranger til Kaja Schjerven Mollerins bok – I denne verden: « En bok om Susan Sontags tenkning rundt forholdet mellom estetikk og etikk. Det er også en bok om hvordan moralspørsmål, for oss alle, er innvevd i hverdagslivet, om hva vi tillegger verdi, om den dype erkjennelsesprosessen det er å vite hva man føler, forstå hvor man ser fra, for å kunne åpne seg for verden.»

Denne erkjennelsesprosessen er prosjektets kjerne.

Taranger retter videre blikket mot vår felles historie, dagens situasjon og framtid,- spesielt i Europa, og stiller spørsmål om ansvar for våre medmennesker. Hvem tar ansvar? Angår det oss?
Videoverket DET HVITE TOGET, refereres til De Hvite Bussene, – krig og flyktningestrømmer. Menneskers rett til å si sin mening er truet. Menneskers rett til å ha et trygt hjem, et sted å bo. Menneskers rett til å reise fritt. Det andre videoverket, ARTIKKEL 19, reflekterer både protest og overvåkning. Installasjonen med 30 Feltsenger komplementerer videoverkene og bygger oppunder mulige situasjoner for krisehjelp; – de gir et fysisk hvilested som indikerer både omsorg , hjelp og håp… Antallet senger refererer til Menneskerettighetserklæringens 30 punkt.

Taranger er utdannet ved Kunsthøgskolen i Bergen (98) og L’Ecole Regionale des Beaux Art de Nantes (97). Hun arbeider i hovedsak med video- og fotobaserte installasjoner. Tarangers prosjekter kan karakteriseres som et «tidspass», med base i kunstnerens rolle som både betrakter og deltager – en pågående etterforskning av motstridende elementer av estetikk og etikk i det urbane livet. Hennes arbeider er utstilt nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Utover egen praksis er Taranger også medlem i videogruppen Doppler, og en av grunnleggerne av B-OPEN og Kunstjournalen B-Post.

Utstillingen er støttet av Bergen Kommune, BEK og Sivilforsvaret.

On my way to Zona Imaginaria I was filming through the train window. The closer I came, the more diverse and contradictory the civilization appeared; neighborhoods devided in two, the rich and the poor on separate sides of the street. Left in me was a feeling of lack of security, of the unexpected, as well as of excitement for what I was going to take part in.

At Zona people come together from different walks of life and art practices, - to see and to listen - to observe and to join and to engage in the neighbourhood. My Urban Mosaikk is a heterogeneity of different kinds of walls. The curing walls, the human walls, the future walls. My hope for my presentation is humble; can my work interact with the neighbouring society in a way that can spark some hope and sensation of possibility? Even open up for imagination and agency?

I am inspired by how Zona Imaginaria focuses on care for its neighbouring community. Bringing social art practice into a context of real life, here and now. I see that in Zona's work it is not only the tension between the now and the past that is elaborated on; it also impacts on the future existence of fragile communities, both local and global.

I am grateful for having been given the opportunity to show Urban Mosaikk in this context.

PRESSEMELDING KABUSO ARTHOUSE

Laurdag 14. januar kl 14.30 vert det opning av to ulike utstillingar med videokunst i Kabuso: Hovudutstilling er Bill Viola - The Raft, medan ein i foajéen kan oppleva Bjørg Taranger si utstilling Kabuso Stasjon 2022. Kveld/natt vises også to vindusprojeksjonar av Bjørg Taranger.

KABUSO STASJON 2022 -
Bjørg Tarangers prosjekt vises i 2 deler- i kafeen og kinosalen på dagtid - og i foajeen om natta. Då blir 2 av Tarangers videoverk  synlige får vegen for alle forbipasserande fra ca 17.00 - 08.00.
I prosjektet KABUSO STASJON 2022 revitaliserer Bjørg Taranger (f. 1953) idéen med jernbanen som kommunikasjon mellom by og land ved å setja opp eit forsalg til ein ny togtrasé. Dette med Øystese som ein av stasjonane.

Taranger presenterer ein framtidsvisjon som peikar på eit engasjement som gjeld strukturelle former og samfunnsbygging i både samtid og framtid.

I ei samanstilling av nyproduserte og tidlegare verk vert foajéen i Kabuso rekontekstualisert til ein transittkafé for reisande. Gjennom dokumentariske opptak som er omdanna til fiktive rom med ulike mønster og rytmar vert ein her teken med til stadar som Paris, Berlin, Buenos Aires og Malmö.

One and only video performance of Norwegian artist Bjørg Taranger in Saint Petersburg! 
Her production focuses on site specific video installations and large scale projections in public spaces. Her work can be characterized as an on-going investigation on traveling, - both in a physical and mental matter. Conflicting elements of urban life, human welfare and social politics are essential. Bjørg Taranger was educated at Bergen National Academy of Art (98) and L'Ecole Régionale des Beaux Art de Nantes in France (97). Her works are widely exhibited nationally and abroad ( Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, England, Netherlands, Argentina, Uruguay and Australia). 
Besides her own practice, she is one of the founding partners of the video group DOPPLER (2012-), an experimental art platform for free projects in the city scape. She is also one of the founders and member of the editorial board of Kunstjournalen B-post( 2006-) an annually published journal on contemporary art. Each issue discusses current themes through commissioned texts and art projects. Currently she is in production of new works of her ongoing project VideoWalks, and upcoming projects with DOPPLER.

From September 9th at 21.45 the Bergen Center for Electronic Arts / BEK, will presents the video work ‘Carousel’ by Bjørg Taranger at the facade of Håkonshallen facing the city. As the daylight fades, the work will emerge on Håkonshallen distinctive stone facade.

‘Carousel’ is a pattern of time, light and colors. With its placing and its repetitive form, we want to illustrate Håkonshallen as a place of ceremonial acts and parties through 750 years. It is shown trough the basic form of ‘The ceremony’, repetition, and ‘The party’ as a cultural expression in which community and the sence of belonging is shaped.

‘Carousel’ is curated by Anne Marthe Dyvi at the Bergen Center for Electronic Arts (BEK).The work was commissioned by the Centennial Committee for the 750-year anniversary of Håkonshallen. The work appeared every night from 9th to 18th of September.

El espacio que coordina Lucrecia Urbano recibe en Octubre la visita de dos artistas extranjeros. Dentro del proyecto de residencia para artistas “¿quién puede vivir en esta casa?“el 16 de Octubre el sueco Jan Petterson expondrá su investigación sobre fotograbado y proyectará Yellow Ribbon, una glorificación del western americano, basado en John Fords. Por otro lado, la noruega Bjørg Taranger mostrará urban mosaikk, un video de 24 cortos.

Sábado 16 de octubre, a las 18hs.

“To be discontinued or continued?” investigación sobre fotograbado. 
.... en el 2007 mi libro “Photogravure an Archaeological Research” fue publicado por la Academia Nacional de Arte en Bergen. Este incluye un DVD con instrucciones del proceso.
Realicé una investigación sobre fotograbado desde una perspectiva arqueológica, con la idea de recolectar una base histórica como referencia y recontextualizarla mediante el uso de las nuevas tecnologías.
Busqué concebir una investigación que incluya ejemplos paradigmáticos de los diferentes tipos de cosas que se habían hecho, quebrar los límites del conocimiento en este campo, desarrollar nuevas terminologías, entre otras cosas. También busqué la construcción teórica, histórica, crítica y visual que permita contextualizar, contribuir y reinterpretar nuevos métodos.
El enfoque fotográfico/gráfico y la teoría sobre la fotografía se basa en la impresión fotográfica. Se discutirá acerca del fotograbado en sí y acerca de las formas de remover y retirar la imagen fotográfica como un punto de partida....

Jan Pettersson 
Nació en el año 1956 en Malmö, Suecia. Vivió y trabajó en Bergen, Noruega. Estudia con Prof. Bertil Lundberg en FORUM School for Fine Art Printmaking (Malmö), con S.W Hayteren Atelier 17 (Paris) y con Prof. Krishnia Reddy en New York University Printmaking department. 
Fue miembro de Nordic Printmaking Union, de Norwegian Printmaking Association Norway y de The Swedish Printmaking Association. Fue profesor adjunto de grabado en New York University (USA, 1990-95) y profesor en Bergen National Academy of Arts (1995-2007). Su libro “Fotograbado: una investigación arqueológica”, fue publicado por Bergen National Academy of Arts en el año 2007.
Director de Trykkeriet (Centre for Contemporary Print) en Bergen, Noruega; Presidente de Norwegian Printmaking Association y editor de Rapport the Norwegian Printmaking Councils magazine.
Escribió numerosos artículos sobre grabado e hizo conferencias acerca de la impresión fotográfica, entre otros temas. Trabajó con muchos artistas como consejero artístico/técnico y como asistente en sus projectos, entre los que puede nombrarse a Carlos Capelán, David Lamellas, Tina Barney, Sol Levitt, Robert Motherwell, David Salle y Robert Ryman, entre otros. 
Realizó varias muestras grupales e individuales en diferentes partes del mundo. Actualmente se encuentra trabajando en el proyecto Samboronbon y Friends Unlimited.

Vive y trabaja en Bergen, Noruega. Desde que finalizó Kunstakademiet en Bergen en el año 1998 (Bergen National Academy of the Arts), Bjørg Taranger realizó muestras colectivas e individuales en su país y en el extranjero: en The London Institute Gallery (Londres), en Aalesunds Kunstforening (Noruega), en El Centro Municipal de Expsiciones SUBTE (Uruguay), en Ralf Rosowski (Alemania) y en la Galleria Jangva (Finlandia), entre otros. También participó en varias exposiciones grupales, entre ellas: ArtGendabienniale2000 enHelsinki, Statens Kunstutstillinger en Kunstnernes Hus (Oslo), Trondheim Kunstmuseum en Noruega, Video tour- 6 artists Kabuso en Nordheimsund (Noruega) y Nordiskt sommarlju 4 Nordic female Artists,  Konsthallen en Hishult (Suecia).
Desde el año 1997 ha recibido premios y menciones tanto en su país como en el extrajero por sus trabajos. 
Sus últimas muestras individuales en Noruega fueron en Gallery Gathe (Bergen) en octubre del año 2009 y Christanssands Kunstforening (Kristiansand) en enero de este año.

City Angel press release

For the second time Bjørg Taranger; a Norwegian artist living in Bergen Norway, will exhibit her City Angel project at Galleria Jangva.
Originally this was exhibited as a part of the ArtGenda biennial in 2000, where she documented her performance with two nurses; Arja-Leena and Paula, who were invited to make a hospital bed in the gallery space.

The City Angel project has further developed over the past few years with new works, performances and exhibitions in Oslo, Bergen, Ålesund and Düsseldorf.

Taranger explores the position of human life in relation to modern care values. The setting is the urban city, and through various art forms (from minor installations to film, print, and performance) humanity is explored through the theme of nursing.

Taranger documents repetitive actions of care carried out by nurses in actual hospitals, which are in turn mirrored in gallery performances and then reproduced yet again through new video performances.

The video documentation of these performances add to the second hand nature of the experience, leading into a more modern understanding of care and ethics, something Taranger considers essential to communication with a modern public. The balance of live performance with documentary enriches the form of the work and creates a mutual confirmation that provides the act with a past, present and future.       

In City Angel the matter of maintenance and welfare; the practice of reworking the urban life, turning indifference to consideration through professionalized concern and deeply felt affection, is both celebrated and questioned in a detached and humorous, but nonetheless touching way.

Her last video work, Running Angel, brings together, in the overlapped editing, pulse and tempo, challenges and danger- all the time connecting symbols of safety; the green pharmacy cross, the nurses and the caretakers. The pulse goes together like a beat through the film: the pulse of the city, of the pulse of the human beings - the rhythm of our life.

I samarbeid med Hordaland Kunstsenter presenterer me video arbeid av seks Hordalandskunstnarar. Videoane gjev saman eit komplekst og spanande program som visar breidda av tilnærmingar til videomediet.

Dei deltakande kunstnarane er Adriana Alves, Christian Bøen,
Stine Gonsholt, Bjørg Taranger, Ingrid Berven og Jeremy Welsh. Videoprogrammet innheld både nyare og eldre arbeid.

Filmane vert viste i konsertsalen saman med dei tre videoane til Ane Lan som er ein del av Excentrum utstillinga! Opnar laurdag 1. mars kl 1200 og vert viste fram til 24. mars.

Esta pieza es acerca de ser el observador de algo desde una posición oculta, no sabiendo que está ocurriendo ni que va a pasar. En esos extraños y oscuros entornos urbanos las historias humanas están ocultas, pero el sentimiento de que algo interesante y misterioso está sucediendo permanece en mi mente. ¿Se conocen entre si, están conectados de alguna manera? Las 3 partes pueden ser vistas como una historia pero las conexiones las tiene que encontrar usted mismo.

This piece is about being an observer of something from a hidden position, not knowing what is going on, and not knowing what will happen. In these strange, dark urban surroundings, the human histories are hidden, but the feeling that something interesting and mysterious is going on, stays in mind. Do they know each other; are they connected in some way? The 3 parts can be seen as one story but the connections you have to find out yourself.
